After announcing overseas concert plans and igniting much speculation about a national run, Simon and Garfunkel have confirmed spring concerts for the United States and Canada. The Old Friends Tour hits select North American markets this spring, preceding a previously announced early summer tour of Australia.

The dozen-date venture kicks off with what was thought to be an exclusive U.S. engagement for the pair — an April 24 concert at the Jazz and Heritage Festival in New Orleans, LA. But three additional U.S. dates now supplement that festival gig, as well as eight performances in the Canadian provinces.

Singer-songwriter Paul Simon and vocalist-poet Art Garfunkel are slated for additional stateside stops on May 7 at Fargodome in Fargo, NC; May 8 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, MN; and May 9 at Kohl Center Arena in Madison, WI. The spring routing currently concludes with a May 15 event at Bell Centre in Montreal, QC.

Neither artist has issued a formal announcement for the new outing. However, dates for the venture are now appearing on the official Simon and Garfunkel Web site and Simon’s solo site.

Previously, the only evidence of a North American tour came in the form of a few unexplained concert listings on Ticketmaster.

Single-day and weekend passes for Jazz Fest are already on sale, and tickets for Simon and Garfunkel’s Fargodome gig opened March 6. Most Canadian onsales begin March 12, while remaining U.S. concert onsales follow on March 13.

Simon and Garfunkel have not toured together since their successful 2003-2004 Old Friends Tour. However, the pair sparked speculation of another reunion when Garfunkel unexpectedly joined Simon on stage during a February 2009 grand reopening concert for the Beacon Theatre in New York, NY.
