Cheech & Chong is the American comedy duo comprising Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong. The pair rose to fame in the 1970s and ’80s with a number of comedy tours and films, most notably their 1978 movie debut “Up in Smoke.” Marin and Chong had a falling out in the mid-80s, causing the once-successful partners to pursue separate careers. However, in summer 2008, the men announced plans for an extensive reunion tour of the world. The Light Up America tour started in September 2008 with Chong’s wife, Shelby Chong, featured as the opening performing. Steady ticket sales for the late 2008 run led to the addition of more U.S. shows in early 2009, as well as a third round of U.S. dates booked through fall 2009.
