Tina Turner is an American performer best known for her iconic vocals and genre range. The self-titled Queen of Rock & Roll began her career in the 1960s and largely influenced by blues musician and husband Ike Turner. The pair’s relationship was turbulent, and the singer’s solo career flourished when she severed ties with her husband.
Driven by the popularity of songs such as “What’s Love Got to Do With It” and “Proud Mary,” Turner has become one of the world’s iconic performers. After completing a 2000 tour, the performer retired from the road, only performing occasionally at one-off concert events over the years.
Turner returned to the tour circuit eight years later, for a 50th anniversary celebration. The Tina! Tour launched in 2008 and continued through 2009, visiting arenas and stadiums around the world. High demand for her tickets placed Turner on TicketNews’s exclusive events rankings during her tour’s North American public on-sales.
