The third installment of Gigantour the traveling heavy music festival launched in 2005 by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine, kicks off tomorrow, April 12, in Denver, CO with headliner Megadeth, Scandinavian death metal band In Flames, Finland’s Children of Bodom, Arizona’s modern extreme Job for a Cowboy, and Oakland, CA heavy power trio High on Fire.

The 29-date tour will criss-cross North America before wrapping May 22 in Phoenix, AZ. “I put together a festival that consisted of positive bands that play heavy music in a high energy environment,” said Mustaine in a statement.

Mustaine handpicks every band. Gigantour 2005 included Megadeth, Dream Theatre, Fear Factory, Dillinger Escape Plan, Nevermore and Anthrax, with second stage acts Life of Agony, Symphony X, Dry Kill Logic and Bobaflex. It was documented in the 2006 release of double CD and DVD sets from Image Entertainment.

The lineup for the 2006 tour featured Megadeth, Lamb of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Into Eternity, Sanctity and The SmashUp. The 2006 tour was captured in the Gigantour 2-CD and DVD (to be released on April 22) and features over an hour of performances by Megadeth along with Lamb of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, The Smashup and Into Eternity. Last year, Gigantour traveled to Australia with Static X, DevilDriver, Lacuna Coil and Bring Me The Horizon.
