The month of March saw fairly steady rankings within the top online ticket selling sites. Ticketmaster and StubHub dominated the month, remaining on top of the Primary and Secondary Sellers categories, respectively, in TicketNews’ weekly rankings.
Following Ticketmaster in the Primary Sellers list were Tickets.com, which is owned by Major League Baseball, Live Nation, TicketWeb, and Etix. Telecharge dropped out of the Top 5 after the first week of March, spending the remaining three weeks in sixth place. The final week of the month saw Live Nation climbing to number two, knocking Tickets.com into third place. Live Nation is less than a year away from launching its new, full-scale ticketing operation.
The Secondary Sellers were dominated by the one, two, three punch of StubHub, Ticketmaster’s TicketsNow subsidiary, and TicketLiquidator. Fourth and fifth place alternated between CoasttoCoast and TicketCo throughout the month after ABCTickets fell from the number four spot into sixth following the first week of March.
In the overall rankings, combining both lists, Ticketmaster remained number one throughout the month, echoing its success from the month of February. StubHub had a strong month as well, remaining in the number two spot until being usurped by Live Nation in the final week of March. TicketsNow, in a similar situation to StubHub, remained in the third spot until the final week of the month, falling into fourth and replacing Live Nation, who spent the month in fourth until climbing into second place. The final week also saw Tickets.com making its way into the top five for the first time in March.

Power Rankings are determined using a score developed by TicketNews, which estimates the amount of web traffic per ticket seller’s website. Two sources of information are combined to determine this score. One relies on unique visitors, the other relies on overall visits and is given more weight in the ranking.
