Dave Stewart has canceled his 18-date fall tour, which was scheduled to travel cities across the U.S. and Canada from August 28 to September 21. Tickets for all performance dates are refundable at the original point of purchase.

“Unfortunately, I have canceled my tour dates due to unforeseen circumstances,” Stewart wrote in a note on his Web site. “In lieu of the larger tour, my band and I will be performing at venues in select cities. The new dates and venues will be announced at a later date. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone.”

The tour was to support the release of his new album, “Songbook Volume 1,” and its companion book of the same name. Stewart is best known for the Eurythmics, his 1980s new wave duo with Annie Lennox. However, he has also written songs for the likes of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mick Jagger, Bono, Celine Dion and Jon Bon Jovi.
