Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band will tour North America for the first time in about four years, the iconic American musician and his band announced today, January 27.
Besides its planned March start, most details of the 2011 trek are still unknown, such as where it will launch and its expected duration. A press release stated only that the musician will visit “major cities across North America,” with dates and ticketing information coming soon.
The few clues that are presently available come from a video update displayed prominently on Seger’s official Web site. The one-minute clip shows a U.S. map that highlights Missouri, Michigan, Ohio, New York and Massachusetts.
The content of the tour is less of a secret than its destinations. The musician, best known for songs like “Old Time Rock and Roll” and “Night Moves,” will perform a mix of his classics and new tunes from an upcoming, yet-unnamed release. An approximate release date for the effort was not given in today’s tour statement.
Seger and the Silver Bullet Band’s last tour featured a total of 50 concerts, from November 2006 into March 2007, to promote their album “Face the Promise.” The venture was their first after a decade-long break, prompting speculation that the tour would be Seger’s last.
Luckily, the wait for Seger’s fans hasn’t been as long this time around. And while his latest tracks with the Silver Bullet Band are still forthcoming, Seger has been actively involved in new music releases. Most recently, he contributed some work to Kid Rock’s 2010 hit album “Born Free.”
