With 36 productions on the Great White Way, gross ticket sales increased by more than $1 million to $20,911,150 for the week ending November 7, up from $19,695,420 the previous week.

Comparing last year at this point to this season, total sales are up to $461,755,883, or 0.4 percent ahead, of $459,791,093 last year. Shows racking up a million or more in ticket sales were: “Wicked” at the Gershwin, “The Lion King” at the Minskoff and “Jersey Boys” at the August Wilson.

Attendance averaged 72 percent this past week with three productions reaching 95 percent or better capacity. Shows that displayed double-digit percentage increases were “The Pee-wee Herman Show” at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, with an 11.4 percent increase over the previous reporting period, and “Colin Quinn: Long Story Short” at the Helen Hayes with a 40.4 percent increase from its first preview to this past week.

“Mary Poppins” at the New Amsterdam experienced a $120,746 increase to $723,365, while “The Merchant of Venice” at the Broadhurst saw a $189,518 decrease to $882,431 this period.
Comparing Gross Gross Potential, only the redoubtable “Wicked” approached 100 percent, at 98.81 percent. The nearest runners-up were “Jersey Boys” and “Driving Miss Daisy” at the Golden, both at 90 percent.

TFL and ATBS for ticketing professionals

Seven venues had top tickets at $300, but “Jersey Boys” continues to garner the Top Ticket category at $350.

Opening this week were the musical “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” on November 4 at the Belasco, and “The Merchant of Venice,” a play, on November 7.
