A week after news broke that Ticketmaster and Live Nation would likely end its ticketing relationship at the end of 2008, rumors are circulating that
Live Nation has laid off dozens of sales staffers, among others.

The matter is not confirmed and details were not available, as the company did not respond to a request for information. But, TicketNews has learned that at least some of the layoffs may have occurred in California. . .

In early August, the company reported strong financials for the quarter ended June 30, but officials also hinted at a slight downturn in the music and concert industries. At industry events, CEO Michael Rapino has spoken publicly about the challenges facing the segment, including how to entice a greater percentage of the population to attend live concerts.

Unnamed sources said that some layoffs may have occurred between Monday and Thursday, and a conference call was placed to remaining staffers at the end of the week. Estimates on the number of employees released could be as high as 70, and more could be on the way.
