Australian indie rocker Missy Higgins is continuing her musical conquest of North America, and she’s getting some help from two established musical acts this time around. Many of the dates on the singer-songwriter’s upcoming tour leg are split between the Indigo Girls and Ben Folds. Of the 26 shows Higgins has scheduled, only two (September 27 at the University of Connecticut, and October 8 at Ohio University) are solo gigs.

After spending much of her summer traversing the East Coast and Mid-West, Higgins’ new tour of the U.S. will take her from coast to coast. The trek begins September 11 in Spartanburg, SC, and wraps November 14 in Los Angeles, CA. Through September 22, Higgins will open for the Indigo Girls’ tour. All dates afterwards, except for her two solo university performances, will be in support of rock pianist Folds’ U.S. tour.

Although most of Higgins’ success so far has been in Australia, she is beginning to wander into the eye of American mainstream media. Her songs have been featured on television dramas such as “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Hills,” among others.

The young acoustic songstress got her start in 2004, debuting with “The Sound of White,” an album that stayed at No. 1 on the Australian music charts (ARIA) for seven weeks. Since her debut, she has won 10 ARIA Awards, and was nominated for several more. This time around the tour circuit, she’s featuring music from her 2007 sophomore release “On A Clear Night.”

“The album hopefully reflects where I’m at right now,” Higgins said about the record on her Web site. “I feel a lot clearer about who I am and what I want to be doing with my music. I’ve moved on from the confusion and self-doubt I felt when I was just starting out.”
