Brian Wilson is an American singer-songwriter and original member of the 1960s surf-rock band Beach Boys. Wilson has been critically acclaimed for his songwriting abilities, particularly his use of layered vocal harmonies. While tensions within the Beach Boys caused the eventual collapse of the group’s original lineup, Wilson also faced internal struggles with substance abuse and mental illness that caused him to seek an infamously reclusive lifestyle for long periods of time.
