The Police was an English rock trio that achieved international stardom that spanned decades. The group was originally active from approximately 1977 through 1984, during which time it released five studio albums that included time-honored hits such as “Roxanne,” “Message in a Bottle,” “Don’t Stand So Close to Me,” and “Every Breath You Take.” Original members Sting (bassist and lead vocalist), Andy Summers (guitarist) and Stewart Copeland (percussionist) reunited for an international tour from 2007 to 2008. The trek quickly became a worldwide sensation, selling out large arenas and stadiums. After the tour wrapped its final North American leg in August 2008, the trio again disbanded. Apart from The Police, Sting has achieved success as a solo artist, both during the band’s 1984-2007 split and again in the present.
