The Dallas Cowboys are one of the 32 teams that make up the National Football League. According to Forbes Magazine, the Cowboys are the most valuable sports franchise in the U.S. with an estimated value of more than $1.6 billion. Only the soccer club Manchester United of the UK is worth more. Since the team joined the NFL, they have won five Super Bowl championships as of 2008.
Current Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has gained a reputation around the league as a man who wasn’t afraid to spend money on his team. His latest venture will officially come to fruition at the beginning in 2009 when they open their new $1.3 billion stadium in Arlington, Texas. The stadium will be the home of the Cowboys, but will also host other events including the NCAA Final Four, NBA All-Star Game and the Super Bowl.
