Kenny Chesney has quickly become one of country music’s hottest touring acts. His seasonal runs often last most of the summer and consistently attracting large audiences, drawing comparisons between Chesney and singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett. In spring 2008, the country musician was named the Entertainer of the Year for the fourth consecutive year at the annual Country Music Awards.
Chesney’s demand as a touring artist also recently led to a long-term touring deal with The Messina Group and AEG Live. Running from 2009 to 2013, the tour gives Chesney control over which venues he performs in since it is based on venue capacity, not ticket sales like usual touring deals.
